WGM Engineering

Maximising engagement with online information

Concentris designed and delivered a behaviourally – led approach to introduce new document access routes within WGM.

PROJECT SUMMARY

WGM are a growing Engineering services company, with a variety of clients across the UK. Like many businesses in their situation, they are continually looking to develop greater efficiency through digitising information. The main platform for this was based around Sharepoint and was given a company specific brand of ‘WGM Connect’.

There was a specific need to make HSEQ documentation more readily accessible through this platform. Existing access routes were tricky and unreliable, leading to users finding their own way of access. In turn, this led to a risk that incorrect documentation would be used.

Concentris was engaged to develop and introduce a simple, user friendly system for access. WGM recognised that this needed the correct behavioural prompts when using the system, and these were foundations of the design. Particularly, a ‘Three Click’ philosophy was used as the default approach to accessing information.

Aims:

  • Carrying out Stakeholder engagement to determine needs
  • Ensuring the reliability of information to be stored
  • Designing an access system which was user friendly to all
  • Demonstrating it in action with selected business ‘influencers’

RESULTS

As a result, over 70 staff were equipped with the skill set to carry out these engagement behaviours and the stage was set for them to do so within the Crossrail programme close out period. Recommendations were given to the Siemens team from Phase II about how to progress these further; focussing on each attendee starting four new behaviours to support engagement better in the workplace.
